6月21日 Yellow Duck Guy - Blog Hits and StatisticsMicrosoft Windows Live tracks the number of hits, page views today and page views this week. Its great to see this blog so active worldwide, mainly as a online 24/7 reference for myself (I think of it as an online technical code library) but also serving up a number of articles and downloadable material for you every month. I try and post something every month.
Statistics wise, Microsoft Windows Live is reporting: Total page views: 23,685 !
Box.net has reported a LARGE number of downloads for the code postings from http://yellowduckguy.spaces.live.com The most download file is http://www.box.net/shared/tmm25or137 - seems Windows 7 launch worldwide is MASSIVE! This is great. I have been using the Release Candidate of Windows 7 since it was release and i'm really really pleased with it. The release of Windows 7 is going to be successful even during the worldwide economic downturn.
Till next time, keep watching this space! p.s. big thanks to you!

It is a site I use frequently to check any files against viruses, worms, trojans and malware which I have received or any trial software versions I download from the Internet. To use: Simply head over to http://www.virustotal.com/ and upload your file and their service will provide an in-depth scan of the file against the latest leading virus scanners. What this means to us in IT is that our operating systems (and any other date specific apps) will need to be updated to account for this change. New Zealand Internal Affairs has a publication about this, which can be found at the link below: You can also find a Daylight Saving blog on MSDN which some helpful tips 'n' tricks, this is located here: http://blogs.msdn.com/nzdst/ There is also a couple of manual options for updating your system, these are defined as: Method 1: Use the Tzedit.exe utility to manually modify the time zone See here: http://www.microsoft.com/nz/msdn/timezone/manual.mspx
I have updated my Vista operating system at home via Windows update and the hotfix as been applied successfully. You notice the information about the Daylight Saving by simply clicking on your clock in the bottom right of your screen on your taskbar (assuming you are using the default layout). You should get something similar to what is shown below:
Yellow Duck Guy 7月23日 GUID - How many combinations are there?Well I have used GUID's (globally unique identifier) before in a number of applications and found today on MSDN the total amount of possibly combinations and thought - this is quite interesting. The number is HUGE!
Question: How many GUID combinations are there?
Answer: There are 122 random bits (128 – 2 for variant - 4 for version) so this calculates to 2^122 or 5,316,911,983,139,663,491,615,228,241,121,400,000 possible combinations. You can find this referenced below if you ever need to know this information to inform your System Analysis, Project Manager or basically anyone wanting to know more about GUID's.
